Parents of a three year-old girl in Oahu, Hawaii have filed a lawsuit against her dentist for medical malpractice. The suit arises from the dentist’s alleged medical negligence in performing a root canal that has left the little girl in a coma.
According to Ashley and Evan Boyle, on December 2, 2013, they brought their three year-old daughter, Finley, into a Kailua dentist’s office for a root canal. Prior to performing the root canal, the dentist administered to the girl a very strong dose of sedatives. Finley’s parents maintain that after she received the sedatives, she stopped breathing. The dentist then allegedly failed to promptly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child.
As a result of the alleged medical malpractice, the girl is still in a coma and she has suffered a severe brain injury. Her life will forever be altered as a result of the medical injury. The specific amount of damages the girl’s family is seeking in the medical malpractice lawsuit have not as of yet been specified.
The dental office where the alleged medical mistake occurred is presently closed.
